Urbana Chapter Visit

Greetings everyone!
I hope that everyone is having a great week! My teammates and I have spent the week working hard at the office in preparing for our 80th State Convention! It is both exciting and a little sad for us. Besides perfecting our retiring addresses and creating the sessions, Megan and I visited the Urbana FFA Chapter yesterday! We attended their club day meeting, where they had about 30 members in attendance. We did our teamwork activity and played some games, that hopefully everyone enjoyed! Thanks to Urbana for having us as guests to their chapter meeting.
Also this evening, Monica, Megan, and I attended the Region 2 Ag. Mechanics, Creed, and Extemp Speaking contests. We had the opportunity to listen to some speeches and watch part of the ag. mechanics practicum. I enjoyed getting to chat with the members from my home county and their advisors. Great job to everyone!
Enjoy your weekend!

Yours,
Kelsey

Middletown Chapter Visit

Hello MD FFA! Today Megan, Monica, and I visited the Middletown FFA Chapter for their club day. In their shop we shared information on the qualities of a good team. We practiced trust and communication. Mr. Staley and his students were very inviting, and we all enjoyed our time there.
Besides spending time with our chapter members, the ladies and I attended the National Young Farmers and Ranchers Convention in Baltimore. We met Farm Bureau members from across the country and even tried out our swing- dancing skills :) We learned a lot about the Farm Bureau organization and Maryland Agriculture. Becky and I even competed in a collegiate discussion event! We had an absolute blast!
Thanks for listening! We hope to see everyone soon at our various chapter visits! Have a beautiful week!

Yours,
Kelsey

What's up MD FFA?!

Unfortunately it has been awhile since I posted my last blog and I missed in sharing about my wonderful experiences with all the chapters. :( So get set- this could be a long one!
Let's see... in early January we visited the Clear Spring FFA Chapter, where Becky, Megan, and I enjoyed the strength of the football players as they picked me up for a photo op! Later that week Becky, Megan, and I went up to Harrisburg, PA for the PA Farm Show. We enjoyed learning about Pennsylvania agriculture and eating amazing food, like honey waffles! The following week Megan and I traveled to the Eastern Shore to Dorchester CTC. They did not have a chapter at the time, but after spending the morning sharing about FFA opportunities they decided to re-charter! Congrats to Dorchester! Towards the end of January, Megan and I headed to Harford Tech to watch as Ms. Naomi Knight received the keys to a brand new Toyota truck as a part of winning an award as a top ag. teacher. Congrats to Ms. Knight! Our last event in January was going to the Fort Hill FFA Chapter. We really enjoyed hearing Mr. Heavner's stories and participating in their chapter meeting.
Now that January is caught up we can move on to February. Last week I visited three chapters: Brunswick, Frederick, and South Carroll. At Brunswick Megan and I shared the teamwork activity, but added a little twist that we think the members enjoyed. In Frederick High School, we did an opportunities activity and were guests for their February club day. Last Thursday I was particularly excited to visit South Carroll as both my parents graduated from there. We had a full day of classes and worked with FFA history for most of the students. And last Thursday night Becky, Megan, and I attended the Maryland Ag. Dinner that had over 850 people in attendance including the governor! It was a very eye-opening to meet with so many people from across the state all dedicated to serving the industry of agriculture.
Thanks for listening! I know that it was a rather long blog and hopefully I will do a better job of remembering to post one after each visit. Again remember that if you want us to come to your school please don't hesitate to contact us!

Have a Happy Valentine's Day!
