State Officer Meeting

The officers were in the office today for their first planning meeting. We discussed the upcoming trainings and the banquets that they attended. They indicated how enjoyable all of the banquets were and how it was great to see all of the student achievements.

Frederick's FFA Banquet

Well here I am again! This time I'm writing to you guys from the auto shop where I am waiting for my SUV that I JUST bought to get fixed! So I figured I would get on and update everybody about my last banquet of the season.
My last stop was to the Frederick High FFA Chapter. It was so great to see a chapter that had so much support from the school...not all of us are that lucky! Dinner was provided by mountain gate (one of my fav places) and then the awards started. Mr. Mayne had a little trouble getting vice president out which made for a interesting night when they announced the new officer team. But all ended well and it was an enjoyable time had by us all! Congratulations to all the award winners, honorary members, and to the FFA chapter its self for another great year!!

Hope everyone is doing great and that you have some good plans for this long weekend...I know I am pumped because I finally get a day off from work!

Catoctin Banquet

hey guys...well tonight was Catoctin's FFA banquet

WHAT IS THERE TO SAY? First was dinner: it was really good and desert was great, too. Afterwards was the award program and instalation of 08-09 officers: it was probably one of the longest banquets but enjoyable and entertaining (especially the microphone and computer malfunction...LOL there always has to be something!) Plus the officers were quick on their feet when they had to waste time and sing "Hiddie, Hiddie, Hiddie, Ho...." when the computer went down then no was sure about singing "Baby Shark" so they inprobed a little! LOL good times

Congradualtion to all the award/scholarship winners, honories, and the newly elected officers. I know that this years team will be a blast to work and visit with!! It was fun hanging-out and mingling with you all during the banquet...thanks for a great and fun night!! :)

Banquets and a Gala

So sorry this is my first post I finally got a free minuet. Where to start let's see, my first trip was to FSK banquet. Then next I was at Urbana. Congratulations to all those who received awards. My next stops will be at Northern Garrett, North Harford, and Clear Spring. I would also like to thank Mr. and Mrs. David Hayden owner of Dark Hollow Farm for inviting the state officers to the MAEF gala. Heather and I traveled down to the Chesapeake Bay beach club. It was a gorgeous place. I think that’s all for now if you need anything email me at david@mdffa.org

Caroline County/Kent County Banquets

Well hey everyone, I'm back to continue with my banquets.....this time I took the long trip across the Bay Bridge to attend Caroline FFA's Banquet. It was interasting to once again see the differences in how the eastern shore does a banquet and how we do our here in Frederick. After a great meal it was my turn to talk, and dont you just know that as I was almost done I FORGOT what I was gonna say! Lets just say my mind is not a steel trap! But I saved myself and everything turned out great! After the banquet, I followed Michelle home to her Mom Mom's house where I spent the night. Thank goodness for Michelle and her family, or I would have been in a hotel all by myself.
So then today I was given the tour of of the little big town of Kent County! Then I attended Kents banquet. Congratulations to everyone, and I look forward to seeing everyone soon again!

Well its been a long beginning of the weekend for me, and I just got home so I'm heading to bed for some well deserved rest! Just remember if you guys need something just drop me a line Richard@mdffa.org Keep up all the good work!!

Goats in the Classroom

well today, some of both the Walkersville and Liganore FFA chapters visited with Oakdale Middle School to put on "Goats in the Classroom" (along with MAF) to teach them about Goats and FFA.

All the students were from different backgrounds in where they lived (rural, urban) and some had never really been exposed to agriculture/farming. In the beginning, a story was read called "The Goat Lady". Afterwards, there were different stations in which students could learn about ag-related topics. In one station, there was how to make cheese (with goats milk); another was about different things dealing with goats; there was one where students could pet and hold baby kids; finally there was a station for FFA and what it has to offer to middle school students.

I enjoyed mingling with the students, telling them what FFA had to offer. As well as we played a few rounds of the "human table"...that was interesting but fun!! Everyone loved the baby goats...they were too cute!

Thanks to all the helped with the different presentations/stations!

Damascus Banquet

Oh my goodness...what is there to say about Damascus's banquet??

Well i was a bit late but that's because there was a little time changing... wasn't my fault. Besides that, it was a good and interesting time!! At dinner, i meet with some of the members which was interesting (to say the least) but fun! Dinner was good as well as the award program; i enjoyed seeing/learning about different awards that they presented that i hadn't heard or seen before...Congrads to all the members on their accomplishments and to the new officer team :)

Good luck to everyone this year!!

Middletown and Urbana's Banquets

Hey all,
So far all my banquets have gone quiet well…
My first was at Middletown (last Monday); being from Walkersville, I was a bit hesitant but I had a really good time and was very welcomed. Let me say dinner was different but in a good way…there wasn’t fried chicken, which is basically, what us officer eat for a month going to all these banquets (LOL). Congratulations on everyone’s accomplishments from the year!!

I then went to Urbana’s banquet (last Friday); it was so fun!! It was a good time to meet up with friends you hadn’t seen since the fairs or nationals. Everyone seemed to enjoy the potluck meal and the program…I liked how each officer had their own sort of retiring slide to sum up their year (mostly in pictures). Congratulations to all the award winners as well as the 08-09 officer team!

At both, I enjoyed seeing how different chapters put on their banquets and what different awards were given out. Plus I didn’t get lost going to either of my banquets (and don’t plan to in the future! sorry richard)

Hope every chapter has a great banquet and can’t wait for my next banquets at Damascus and Catoctin!!
